Oil seals are critical to prevent passage of this lubricating oil along the shaft to the other areas of the engine where it can cause serious damage.
Garima Global supplies components for a wide variety of on-road, off-road, industrial and stationary applications such as automotive light duty and light commercial, trucks heavy duty, tractors agricultural, earthmoving and construction machinery, generators, irrigation pumps, and defence special purpose vehicles.
Viton, Silicone, Neoprene, Nitrile, Polyacrylate and Polyurethene are commonly used sealing materials, which are mounted on a metal case usually made of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and phosphor bronze.
Depending on the application following designs are used in oil seal design:
There is usually a dust lip incorporated in applications exposed to atmospheric contaminants and the sealing material usually has a primary lip or scraper member which scrapes excess oil from the shaft and redirects it towards the periphery of the seal from where it is drained away.
