Valve Stem Seals

Product Description

 The most important function of a valve stem seal is to meter the flow of lubricating oil along the valve stem. If it seals too tightly, chances of valve scuffing and ultimately seizure increase due to insufficient lubrication between the valve guide and the valve stem. However, if the seal is not tight enough, too much oil will seep through causing excessive oil consumption and high emission level in the engine.

MATERIAL

AutoGRACE brand valve stem seals are made of high quality FKM rubber grades with proven performance for standard applications. For heavy duty or high speed applications that place rigorous demands on the stem seal or expose it to aggressive media, special materials like Viton are used. In all cases, the specially formulated fluoropolymer materials possess excellent resistance to temperature and chemicals.

DESIGN

Depending on the application, Garima Global can provide different steam seal designs. The dynamic and static sealing characteristics of both designs are similar to ensure long engine life, the difference lies in the metal casing design.

NON INTEGRATED STEM SEAL

They serve only to meter the flow of oil along the valve stem and consist of a capillary member encased inside a metal stamping. For applications with larger clearance between seal and stem, an L-shaped stamping may also be used.

NON INTEGRATED STEM SEAL

The metal stamping incorporates a seat on which the valve spring can rest which improves the ease of installation, a more stable base for the seal itself and warehouse storage efficiency.

HIGH PRESSURE STEAM SEAL

In turbo-charged applications or for heavy duty applications with exhaust brakes, manifold pressures are especially highly. Standard valve stem seals can pop off the guides or loose contact with the valve stem otherwise, causing engine damage. AutoGRACE high pressure stem seals sourced from leading Indian manufacturers of valve stem seals incorporate an additional sealing lip and integrated spring seat. For applications where spring seat is not possible, a retention feature is built into the mating valve guide on to which the seal is installed. This ensures it can withstand the high intake and exhaust manifold pressures without popping off the guide.
